So what shapes your world view?Let me ask you some questions.

Do you have any religious affiliations?
Do you attend church regularly?
(and by church I mean with a body of Christians for the purpose of
fellowship/teaching/exhortation/accountability)
Do you believe that humans evolved over time?
Do you believe that other living things evolved over time?
Do you believe yourself to be tolerant of social issues such as immigration, race and homosexuality?
Do you believe the will of the people should influence law?
How important is 'becoming more spiritual' in your life?

How did you go?
Depending on your answers, you may find that you have developed the same kind of world view that is rapidly developing amongst 18-25 year olds who have been dubbed 'Generation Next'.
There is nothing wrong with this view point or stance, if you are a humanist, or are humanistic in your world view.
But if you are a Christian then I ask the very serious question, what/who is shaping your world view?
QUOTE:
A survey of young people ages 18-25 by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press includes encouraging news about the growth of humanist beliefs among the so-called "Generation Next."
You can read the the findings here.

How important is 'becoming more spiritual' in your life? Depends on your definition or 'spiritual'
I know you don't consider me a Christian, but I do. I put my faith in a greater love, knowing it doesn't matter whether God was a man, a spirit, or just an idea; the message is the same. My life experience and my upbringing have shaped my world view. It wasn't until recently though that I've questioned my belief and I came to the conclusion I didn't really believe the bible word for word and that none of it really mattered if it did or didn't. I actually think even though everyone should read the bible that no-one should take it literally because then they lose the bigger picture. I do enjoy your site and am looking forward to a meeting of the minds so to speak.
Also I read your link and I guess by those terms I'd be humanist, but I thought that's what love was, is (verb tense?)...
And I didn't mean to offend and I'm sorry for being defensive, I've just been judged pretty harshly on revelife, and life in general, because of my difference of opinion. But, could you explain the difference between Humanists and Creationists? Should both just love people? Isn't that most important?
@IHearTheOcean@xanga - hey there, thanks for stopping by.
I am actually pretty hard to offend when it comes to the internet, things are so subjective, tone meaning etc. So please don't think I am offended in anyway. I always enjoy well thought out discussion.
At the end of the day, whether I think you are a Christian is irrelevant. It is not my place to decide that. I know what the bible teaches about how to get to God, I can only go on that-because I believe the bible. At the end of the day, we all stand accountable to God for our actions, and I am very aware of my own accountability.... let alone anyone elses.
The original article was written by a humanist, and these are the points of view he sees as growing in our society.
As a Christian, a 'humanist' point of view is in direct opposition to a biblical centered one.
One is about mans/human ideas
The other (if you believe the validity of the bible and its original source being God) is about God's ideas.
Creation by in large is a biblical point of view.
Evolution is primarily a 'humanistic' point of view.
I think love has many many meanings and applications- I guess it depends on who you believe is the ultimate source of love. For me it is the God of the bible.
Thanks for stopping by, it was a really lovely surprise.
Look forward to getting to know you better.

I have a Biblical world view... not saying that measure up to it 100%, but I do strive for God's will in my life and that I try to see things as how it relates to the Creator.
